
Healthy Living Innovations Award - Healthy NC Hospitals: Red Apple Project - July 2011
NC Prevention Partners received a Healthy Living Innovations Award from the Department of Health and Human Services. The award is granted to innovative health promotion projects that have demonstrated a significant impact on the health of the community within the past three years. The Red Apple Project, funded by the Duke Endowment in partnership with the NC Hospital association, assisted all of NC's acute care hospitals in overhauling their food environments to make healthier foods more affordable, attractive, and tasty.

Business Leader’s Movers & Shakers Award – Meg Molloy – September 21, 2009
NC Prevention Partners President and CEO Meg Molloy received the Movers & Shakers Award, which honors up-and-coming business leaders in the Triangle community. Nominees must be either rising leaders within companies with more than 100 employees or C-level executives leading rising companies with fewer than 100 employees. This year’s Movers & Shakers were chosen from a record number of nominations.
One of Business Leader Media’s Healthiest Companies – July 2009
NC Prevention Partners received a Business Leader Media’s Healthiest Company Award in July 2009. This recognition honors organizations with outstanding health achievements in the Triangle community. Healthiest Company honorees each made significant investments in the corporate wellness of its employees. The 2009 Healthiest Company Awards were sponsored by Rex UNC Health Care and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina.

Association of Fundraising Professionals Award for Outstanding Fundraising Professional – Beverly Biggs – November 2008
Our VP of Development and Marketing, Beverly Biggs, received the Outstanding Fundraising Professional Award from the Triangle Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals for her more than 25 years dedicated to raising funds for community organizations. In the last three years she has more than doubled the fundraising efforts for NC Prevention Partners in corporate giving and the annual appeal.

Hermes Creative Awards - May 2008
NC Prevention Partners has won two Hermes Creative Awards in recognition of outstanding marketing and communication tools. NCPP won a Platinum Award, the highest honor, for its 2008 Prevention Report Card. NCPP also won a Gold Award for its Starting the Conversation tools, which help providers talk with their patients about how to stop using tobacco, eat healthier and better manage blood pressure and cholesterol. Triangle Health Care Heroes – Melva Fager Okun – 2008
In March 2008, Dr. Melva Fager Okun – Director of NCPP’s Tobacco-Free Hospital Initiative – was named a Health Care Hero by the Triangle Business Journal. The award was presented in recognition of Melva's helping more than 100 acute care hospital campuses establish and implement 100% tobacco-free policies. Read the media release and article.

Goodmon Award for Regional Leadership – 2007
In December 2007, NC Prevention Partners received an annual Goodmon Award from Leadership Triangle for regional leadership in action.NCPP was among six recipients honored at an awards gala held at the American Tobacco Campus. Leadership Triangle established the annual awards to recognize individual leaders, elected officials, organizations and partnerships that exemplify regional thinking and action through their professional and/or volunteer efforts.

NC Center for Nonprofits Stewardship Award – October 2007
In October 2007, NC Prevention Partners was recognized by the NC Center for Nonprofits for responsible and transparent use of funds and forwarding our mission to improve the public’s health by focusing on prevention. NCPP was one of three organizations chosen from more than 1,500 non-profit groups across the state. Read the media release.

Health and Wellness Trust Fund Power of Prevention Award
Meg Molloy – 2007
In May 2007, Meg Molloy, executive director of NC Prevention Partners, was given the Health and Wellness Trust Fund’s Power of Prevention award in the Community Catalyst category. The Power of Prevention Awards honor outstanding individuals from across North Carolina who have taken innovative measures to promote healthy lifestyles and increase access to health care, and address chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, cancer and heart disease.
North Carolina Alliance for Healthy Communities – 2004
Each year, the NCAHC recognizes an individual and/or an organization/employer that has demonstrated compelling vision, leadership and excellence in their commitment to improving health outcomes in North Carolina communities. In 2004, NC Prevention Partners was recognized for prevention initiatives to improve smoking cessation, weight management and exercise.

Tar Heel of the Week, Meg Molloy – 2003
The Raleigh, N.C. News & Observer has run a "Tar Heel of the Week" feature every Sunday since January 19, 1950. Now spanning more than a half-century, more than 2,500 North Carolinians have been named "Tar Heel of the Week" and profiled in the N&O. The paper has featured a broad spectrum of people from politicians and business leaders to teachers, athletes and activists. For her visionary prevention work, Meg Molloy was named Tar Heel of the week on February 2, 2003.

North Carolina Public Health Association – 2000
In 2000, the North Carolina Public Health Association recognized NC Prevention Partners with its Partners in Public Health Distinguished Group Award. This award honors organizations and professions who have made significant contributions to public health in North Carolina. In the same year, NCPP Board Chair Peg O’Connell was honored with NCPHA’s Distinguished Service Award.
ASSIST Award for Cancer Prevention in North Carolina - 2000
In 2000, NC Prevention Partners was given an award in recognition and appreciation for outstanding resourcefulness and leadership in implementing the American Stop Smoking Intervention Study (ASSIST) for Cancer Prevention in North Carolina. The ASSIST program implemented proven tobacco cessation interventions in 17 U.S. states. The award was presented by State Health Director Dr. Andrew McBride and Paula Mohan of the North Carolina chapter of the American Cancer Society.
