This nine minute video puts prevention into perspective. CBC News entitles the article the “Toronto doctors magic pill goes viral” and the majority of viewers by initial reaction may expect some extraordinary medication that will cure every disease on earth; however, they are probably awestruck that this magic medication is just some type of exercise for 30 minutes a day. As a society Dr. Mike Evans iterates, we rely on doctors and researchers to come up with a cure for preventable illnesses that could have been solved by simply taking the stairs instead of the elevator or quitting a habit that causes harm such as smoking. He humors us by challenging us to limit our eating and sleeping to just 23 ½ hours a day and be active for the remaining 30 minutes. It's amazing to consider how complex we have made our health system when we can prevent illness by taking small, simple steps. Dr. Evans demonstrates how prevention and accountability on behalf of the individual are critical aspects to solving our world’s healthcare problems. Through a creative platform, Dr. Evans sums up what NC Prevention Partners aims to accomplish and emphasizes the power of preventative measures.
