the Working Well initiative. Working Well is a collaboration between the South Carolina Hospital Association and NC Prevention Partners, which supports hospitals in their efforts to develop and implement wellness policies and work environments that promote better employee health. The Gold Star recognizes hospitals for providing the highest standard of excellence for the tobacco cessation programs offered to employees.
In order to receive this recognition, Baptist Easley Hospital addressed several components of an effective quit tobacco system, including:
- Discussing tobacco-free campus policy with all new hires and emphasizing the importance of this policy at regular leadership institutes;
- Implementing a new, onsite Freshstart Cessation Program, which is available free to all Baptist Easley employees;
- Providing free nicotine replacement therapy to employees participating in the cessation program; and
- Providing follow-up support 30, 60 and 90 days after employees complete the cessation program, and continuing to offer free nicotine replacement therapy during this period.
Baptist Easley Hospital was recently designated a
Working Well Center of Excellence, and they are eager to serve as a role model to other South Carolina hospitals that are working to address tobacco use amongst their employees.
Congratulations Baptist Easley!
