Physicians, nurses and others are invited to attend the Moving TALK (Tobacco and Lung Cancer Knowledge) into Action: An Evidence Academy for Healthcare Providers, Public Health Professionals and Community Leaders.
This one-day conference will showcase the latest research findings and regional data on tobacco use and lung cancer. Evidence-based interventions for tobacco screening and treatment and an update on the National Lung Cancer Screening Trial will be presented. NC Prevention Parters' Melva Fager Okun, DrPH, Senior Program Manager, will present at the conference. In addition, new policy initiatives and how they can affect smoking rates will be discussed. Participants will be encouraged to become involved in local policy and programming initiatives that build on the information presented at the conference.
SPONSORS: South East Area Health Education Center, Mountain Area Health Education Center, UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, and North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences (NC TraCS) Institute are partnering to bring the academies to Asheville and Wilmington in November.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Physicians (primary care, family practice, internists), nurses, other health care professionals, public health professionals, community advocates and leaders involved in lung cancer screening/ detection and tobacco prevention/control in North Carolina.
COST: The registration fee is $50.00. Walk-in registration is $65 the day of the conference. The fee includes educational materials, continuing education credits, lunch, morning and afternoon refreshments, and parking.
